Pam Leahey is a resident of Lower Makefield Township and longtime MWA member.Although I grew up and attended college in West Virginia, I’ve called Lower Makefield my home for over 28 years. During that time, I developed my love for volunteering. Participating in church projects, serving as a Minister of Holy Communion at St. Mary’s, and engaging in my children’s sports and group activities have been gratifying, but being a member of MWA has been especially meaningful.

I first heard of the association from a representative at Harvest Day, and the rest is history. During my 13 years as a member, I decided to go all in. I’ve served on the board as Internal Vice President and Membership Chair and have led numerous committees. Most notably, I served as Bingo Fundraiser Chairperson for several years. In that role, I was impressed by how devotedly and generously our members work before, during, and after bingo night to make our shared goal come to fruition. I witnessed the joy that raising money for deserving beneficiaries can bring and how teamwork can lead to lasting friendships. Every year, I look forward to Wrapping Presence and Caring for Friends, as both initiatives make lives easier for neighbors right in our backyard. It’s not been all work—fun is important, too. I’ve enjoyed hosting Bunco at my house and soon realized that spirited competition is another way to bond.

Along with the joy of seeing my family grow and traveling to places far and wide, I can truly say that taking this deep dive into the workings of MWA has brought more pleasure and rewards than I can count.
