Makefield Women’s Association Celebrates 45 Years of Service
The Makefield Women’s Association (MWA) is thrilled to celebrate its 45th anniversary, marking nearly half a century of unwavering commitment to serving the Bucks County community. To honor this milestone, MWA is launching a year-long initiative, “45 Acts of Service,” dedicated to expanding our impact and highlighting the many ways we support those in need.
A Legacy of Service
Founded in 1980, MWA has grown into a diverse and dynamic group of women united by a shared mission: to raise funds and provide essential services to individuals and organizations within our community. Each year, through a thoughtful nominating and voting process, our members select local nonprofits to be our Annual Beneficiaries. We then dedicate our fundraising efforts to supporting these organizations, ensuring they have the resources to continue their invaluable work.
Our Impact
Beyond fundraising, MWA members take an active role in hands-on community service. Some of our ongoing initiatives include:
- Annual Beneficiary Support: Each year, we select and raise funds for local nonprofit organizations, helping them further their missions.
- Monthly Member Collections: Members bring donations for a designated local cause at each meeting, ensuring consistent support throughout the year.
- Caring for Friends: Preparing and delivering meals to individuals facing food insecurity.
- Family Service Association’s Homeless Shelter: Organizing events and activities to bring joy and normalcy to children and families in transitional housing.
- Adopt-a-Highway: Maintaining a three-mile stretch of Edgewood Road in Lower Makefield, keeping our community clean and beautiful.
These projects are just a glimpse of how MWA continues to make a tangible difference in Bucks County.
Introducing “45 Acts of Service”
To celebrate our 45th anniversary, MWA is embarking on an ambitious mission: completing 45 Acts of Service throughout the year. These service projects will address various needs in our community, from food insecurity and education to environmental initiatives and support for local nonprofits. This campaign not only honors our past but also strengthens our future commitment to making a difference.
How You Can Get Involved
We invite the community to join us in by becoming a member of MWA. Whether you volunteer your time, contribute resources, or lend your expertise, your involvement will help create a lasting impact. MWA meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM in Yardley, PA. We welcome all women in the area who share our passion for service to attend a meeting. CLICK HERE to learn more.
A Heartfelt Thank You
Reflecting on the past 45 years, we deeply thank our members, volunteers, beneficiaries, and the entire Bucks County community for their unwavering support. It is through your generosity and collaboration that MWA has thrived and made a meaningful difference.
We look forward to continuing this service, compassion, and community-building journey for many more years to come. Let’s make this 45th anniversary a testament to the power of collective goodwill and the enduring spirit of giving back.
