Each year, through a thoughtful nominating and voting process, Makefield Women’s Association (MWA), based in Lower Makefield Township, selects a group of nonprofit organizations from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and the surrounding areas to be our Annual Beneficiaries. With these deserving local organizations in mind, MWA hosts fundraising events and collects donations throughout the year. At year’s end, proceeds are distributed to the selected beneficiaries to help them continue their vital work in our community.
In addition to raising funds, MWA members actively support these organizations through hands-on service projects and community outreach across Bucks County. From donation drives to volunteer initiatives, there’s always meaningful work happening at MWA. Our mission is to serve the Bucks County community in every way we can. These are just a few of the many ways we support local nonprofits and give back to our community.
As the only domestic violence organization serving Bucks County, A Woman’s Place (AWP) provides free, confidential support to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. Their services include crisis intervention, safe housing, counseling, legal advocacy, prevention education, and community outreach.
At the heart of their work is a commitment to safety, empowerment, and healing. AWP walks alongside survivors as they rebuild their lives, while also working to prevent violence and create a safer community for everyone.
Bucks County Housing Group – Penndel Community Pantry
Bucks County Housing Group works to end homelessness and food insecurity by providing stable housing and essential resources to individuals and families in need. Through the Penndel Community Pantry, they ensure local families have reliable access to nutritious food in a welcoming, supportive environment. Their work goes beyond meeting immediate needs; it helps create stability, restore dignity, and build a stronger foundation for the future.
Family Service Association – Bucks County Emergency Homeless Shelter
Located in Levittown, this shelter provides families experiencing homelessness with more than just a place to stay; it offers stability during one of life’s most uncertain moments. Families are welcomed into a safe, temporary home where they receive meals, clothing, medical support, and access to vital social services.
But beyond the essentials, this program restores something just as important: a sense of dignity, security, and hope for what comes next.

Two Pennsbury Scholarships
Partnering with the Pennsbury High School guidance department to award two scholarships to graduating seniors, typically recognizing young women who demonstrate excellence in both academics and community service.
These scholarships help support the next chapter of their journey, easing the path toward higher education and celebrating students who are already making a difference in their community.
Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA)
NOVA is Bucks County’s comprehensive victim services organization, providing free, confidential support to individuals and families impacted by crime. Their services include crisis intervention, counseling, legal advocacy, and a 24/7 helpline, ensuring that help is always within reach.
For over 50 years, NOVA has supported and empowered survivors while working to prevent violence through education, outreach, and community partnerships.
Members of MWA not only raise funds for local nonprofits but also support these organizations in various other ways. Monthly donation drives and volunteer work are essential components of our mission to serve the community. The following are organizations that we support through donations or volunteer work.
Our Impact
Beyond fundraising, MWA members take an active role in hands-on community service. Some of our ongoing initiatives include:
- Annual Beneficiary Support: Each year, we select and raise funds for local nonprofit organizations, helping them further their missions.
- Monthly Member Collections: Members bring donations for a designated local cause at each meeting, ensuring consistent support throughout the year.
- Caring for Friends: Preparing and delivering meals to individuals facing food insecurity.
- Family Service Association’s Homeless Shelter: Organizing events and activities to bring joy and normalcy to children and families in transitional housing.
- Adopt-a-Highway: Maintaining a three-mile stretch of Edgewood Road in Lower Makefield, keeping our community clean and beautiful.
- Acts of Service: we seek out area nonprofits for volunteer and donation opportunities.
These projects are just a glimpse of how MWA continues to make a tangible difference in Bucks County.
